Quarry Bay

Quarry Bay is an area beneath Mount Parker in the eastern part of Hong Kong Island. A huge part of Quarry Bay is owned by Swire (Tai Koo in Chinese). In the past, Swire used Quarry Bay as a traditional commercial area for the Tai Koo Dockyard, Tai Koo sugar factory, and the Swire coca-cola factory. Now, Quarry Bay had been transformed into a big residential area with high rise commercial buildings and two large shopping centers. The hillside was converted into Kornhill apartment complex, the reservoir into Mount Parker Lodge apartments, the Dockyard into Taikoo Shing, a very huge apartment estate, the coca-cola factory is now Kornville apartment, and Taikoo Sugar transformed to Taikoo Place, a group of commercial high rise buildings.
